Claudio Girardi is a legal advisor at CR& Partners. His work focuses on the electricity sector, regulation, and infrastructure, with particular emphasis on his experience in the formulation of public policies and in the regulation of the electricity sector, especially in the context of the sector’s restructuring in Brazil. He is recognized as one of the country’s leading experts on matters involving the application of penalties, the economic and financial rebalancing of concessions, generation and transmission authorizations, and energy commercialization and contracting models.
Before joining the CR& Partners team, he was a founding partner of the law firm Girardi & Schmitke Advogados in 2009, where he worked for more than a decade on strategic matters for companies such as Eletrobras, Norte Energia, Vale, and State Grid. Previously, he served as General Counsel of ANEEL from 1997 to 2008 and as Legal Coordinator for the Water and Energy areas of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME). He also served as Deputy Legal Advisor to the Ministry between 1991 and 1997.
Between 1982 and 1989, he served as Deputy Legal Coordinator of the former National Department of Water and Electric Energy (DNAEE) and held the position of Legal Coordinator from 1990 to 1991. Girardi was also legal advisor to the Brazilian Association of Electric Energy Traders (ABRACEEL) and a member of the Regulatory Affairs Commission of the Brazilian Bar Association, Federal District Section (OAB/DF).
